Patient Advice and Liaison Service
Being a patient, relative or carer can be a worrying or confusing time. Sometimes you will need to turn to someone for help, advice and support. This is where PALS comes in. PALS will guide you through the different services available at Mayday. We will help you to sort out any concerns you may have about the care you receive.
What is the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)?
PALS is a service which aims to provide patients and carers with support to sort out problems and concerns ‘on the spot’, where possible. Working within Mayday, we are ideally placed to liaise directly with clinicians and other staff to deal quickly with issues raised.
We also maintain an information library, which contains reference books and leaflets about medical conditions and treatments. The library also includes information about community advocacy and support services and how to access them.
How is PALS different from the Patients Services Department?
The Patient Services Department manages the administration of formal complaints to the Trust. PALS staff, on the other hand, aim to sort out problems and concerns in order to avoid them becoming a cause for complaint.
How can I contact PALS?
The PALS office is situated on the first floor of the London Wing at Mayday Hospital. The office is usually open from 10am to 3.30 pm. Feel free to drop in if you are visiting the hospital but if you are coming to Mayday just to visit PALS call us first to make an appointment, so you don’t have a wasted journey.
PALS can be contacted on 020 8401 3210 or call 020 8401 3000 and ask for bleep 866 or 867 or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
