Nurse with a patient on a ward - Jul 09

Charitable Fund

Mayday Healthcare Charitable Fund was set up some years ago to receive and administer donations and legacies generously given by patients, local residents and local groups.

A donation can be earmarked for a specific purpose, or ward, or department. Please let us know if you wish to do this, so that we can allocate the income to the correct area of your choice.

Alternatively, a donation can be made to the General Amenities Fund.

Charitable Donations can help us improve the quality of care we deliver and our  facilities.

Cash Donations

You can make a cash donation at our cashier’s office in the Woodcroft Wing. Please note that you must be given a receipt.

Donation recording slips are available on most wards or departments to allow the ward staff to issue a receipt to you immediately. Please speak to the nurse in charge and they will be able to assist you.

Cheque Donations

This is the preferred method of donation.

A cheque should be made payable to Mayday Healthcare Charitable Funds and sent to:

Director of Finance

2nd Floor Nightingale House

530 London Road

CR7 7YE

Note: Donation slips are pre-printed and are available from Mayday Healthcare Charity Funds office. If you have no access to a ward or a department please ring the Charity Accountant (020 8401 3552).

Gift Aid

The Gift Aid scheme allows the charity to increase the value of your gift by reclaiming the tax at no extra cost to you.

  • The charity will reclaim 28p of tax on every £1 you give between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011. This transitional relief for the charity does not affect your personal tax position.
  • If you pay income tax at the higher rate, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self Assessment tax return if you want to receive the additional tax relief due to you.

We can reclaim the tax paid on your donation made to us. All you need to do is sign the gift aid declaration at the bottom of the Donation Record Slip form.

To qualify for Gift Aid you must be a UK taxpayer; pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that the charity will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year.

Leave a Gift in Your Will

Legacies are gifts left in wills. Please ensure that you seek the appropriate advice when drawing up a will.
